    Training Manager

     

    The Training Manager is responsible for managing the training and development team directly supporting CDS. The Training Manager will plan and develop effective training and development programs in a variety of formats. The training element of the work aims to give our associates the knowledge, attitudes, understanding, values, practical skills and motivation to carry out specific work-related tasks. In addition, the Training Manager will assess the training needs of the business through surveys, interviews, focus groups, observation or consultation with managers and senior leadership. The successful candidate will present information using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures. The Training Manager will also evaluate training materials prepared by specialists such as outlines, text, and handouts.

    Position Summary
    The Training Manager is responsible for managing the training and development team directly supporting CDS.     Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Planning/Project Management:

    • Anticipates department needs, challenges and opportunities, provides input on annual training plans for the organization.
    • Independently resolves administrative and operational issues.
    • Partners with department managers to assess and identify training needs.
    • Research, identify and implement cost effective training approaches to meet the geographical challenges of providing learning programs in a variety of locations.
    • Develop project timelines and ensure training programs are delivered on-time and on-budget.
    • Review and provide final approval/feedback on deliverables
    • Manage risks and adjust timeline for successful completion of projects on time and within budget

     

    People Management:

    • Recommends changes in department staffing, executes recruiting verifying new hires meet standards.
    • Establish team working processes and procedures for managing and tracking training requests.
    • Conducts performance evaluations and defines development goals.
    • Mentors staff and promotes professional growth and advancement. Implements professional development, continuing education and training initiatives.
    • Identify and assign projects to direct reports based on experience and work volume.
    • Plan and facilitate regular team meetings

     

    Evaluation/Reporting:

    • Evaluate and analyze effectiveness of training programs through defined metrics and reporting.
    • Provide regular project updates to retail business leaders and Talent Development
    • Develop program specific testing and evaluation procedures in partnership with corporate Talent Development team.


    Other:

    • Facilitate classroom training sessions, as needed
    • Promote the benefits of specific programs to the target roles/organizations.
    • Writes learning objectives to describe desired outcomes and ensures learning materials support those objectives. Work directly with technical subject matter experts to capture course-specific knowledge.
    • Design and develop blended learning training programs including instructor-led, technical systems and computer-based training delivery methods.
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Direct Reports
    - Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

    Indirect Reports
    - May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

     

     

    Travel and/or Driving Requirements

    - Travel is an essential duty and function of this job. Driving is not an essential duty or function of this job.
    - Travel up to 20%

     

     

    Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

     

    Education Level:
    (Required) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
    (Preferred) Master's Degree or equivalent experience

     

    Field of Study/Area of Experience: Human Resource Management/Development, Organizational Development, Instructional Technology or equivalent combination of education and related experience

    - 2+ years of Program/Project Management experience required
    - 3+ years of Learning/HR experience preferred with working knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design for e-Learning, instructor-led training and blended learning
    - Coaching experience preferred
    - Client interaction experience, either internal or external, preferred
    - Experience dealing with leaders preferred

     

    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

    - Ability to direct, lead, coach, and develop people
    - Skill in supervising to include delegating responsibility, training and evaluating performance
    - Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills
    - Good interpersonal skills
    - Conflict management skills
    - Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment
    - Strong prioritization skills
    - Ability to visualize and plan objectives and goals strategically
    - Decision making skills
    - Ability to exercise sound judgment
    - Strong skill with Articulate Storyline required
    - Working familiarity with Adobe CC (PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign) preferred
    - Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers

     

     

    Environmental & Physical Requirements

    Office / Sedentary Requirements
    Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
